چکیده

SUMMARY In this work we propose and analyse a discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method for the Stokes problem based on an artificial compressibility numerical flux. A crucial step in the definition of a DG method is the choice of the numerical fluxes, which affect both the accuracy and the order of convergence of the method. We propose here to treat the viscous and the inviscid terms separately. The former is discretized using the well-known BRMPS method. For the latter, the problem is locally modified by adding an artificial compressibility term of the form 1 c 2 ∂p ∂t for the sole purpose of interface flux computation. The flux is obtained as the exact solution of a local Riemann problem. The analysis of the method extends the well-established strategies for the DG discretization of the Laplacian to the resulting partially coercive problem.

Numerical Simulation of Non-Newtonian Inelastic Flows in Channel based on Artificial Compressibility Method

In this study, inelastic constitutive modelling is considered for the simulation of shear-thinning fluids through a circular channel. Numerical solutions are presented for power-law inelastic model, considering axisymmetric Poiseuille flow through a channel. The numerical simulation of such fluid is performed by using the Galerkin finite element approach based on artificial compression method (...

An Enhanced Flux Treatment in Solving Incompressible Flow in a Forward-Facing Step

The aim of this paper is to give a detailed effect of several parameters such as step height, Reynolds number, contraction ratio, and temperature difference between the entrance and solid boundaries, of a forward-facing step. An accurate length of separation and reattachment zones are achieved. A finite-volume method (FVM) has been developed to study incompressible flow in a forward-facing step...

AN ADAPTIVE WAVELET SOLUTION TO GENERALIZED STOKES PROBLEM

In this paper we will present an adaptive wavelet scheme to solvethe generalized Stokes problem. Using divergence free wavelets, theproblem is transformed into an equivalent matrix vector system, thatleads to a positive definite system of reduced size for thevelocity. This system is solved iteratively, where the applicationof the infinite stiffness matrix, that is sufficiently compressible,is r...

On positivity-preserving high order discontinuous Galerkin schemes for compressible Navier-Stokes equations

We construct a local Lax-Friedrichs type positivity-preserving flux for compressible Navier-Stokes equations, which can be easily extended to high dimensions for generic forms of equations of state, shear stress tensor and heat flux. With this positivity-preserving flux, any finite volume type schemes including discontinuous Galerkin (DG) schemes with strong stability preserving Runge-Kutta tim...

A Dg Method for the Stokes Equations Related to Nonconforming Approximations

We study a discontinuous Galerkin method for the Stokes equations with a new stabilization of the viscous term. On the one hand, it allows us to recover, as the stabilization parameter tends towards in nity, some stable and well-known nonconforming approximations of the Stokes problem. On the other hand, we can easily de ne an a posteriori error indicator, based on the reconstruction of a local...
